PERSONALISM
Focusing the entire condition of the person, body, soul and spirit are represented. At the same time, the center point of the experience is the encounter, the in-between encompassed by the workpiece and yourself, and finally, between you and the artist. Everything leads us to transcendence.
TEXTURE
The texture of oilpastels invites us to have an experience with the almost living flesh in each work of art. Different from realism, the transcendence in these pieces breaks the threshold of realism and materialism and put us in this midterm-reality where flesh is material and transcendental at the same time.
This aesthetics impression is also due to the high quallity materials used in the process. Rafael uses Sennelier and Van Gogh oilpastels, and Mi-Teintes coton or Canson and Strathmore watercolor paper to give more depth and relief to the pieces.
